My wife thinks this is a painting of flowers and she is right, they are flowers seen through my heart and represented on materials I found, the canvas is an old night gown which I found in a field, the dirt still clings to it. the frame support is made from old wood found in the same field. It is not supposed to hang on a wall, no, it has posts like a sign. It is supposed to stand up right so the whole body of it can be viewed, so you know that it's not all about the painting but also about the materials used to make it. I think it be best placed on a lawn or in some flower pots and then put in a room.
It's got more to it than just clean wood. It was put together in a way so that it is not perfect, it's raw and moving. I want you to view it and see that all the materials are and were helping to breed life, by way of decay and soil and what not.
I did not show it in it's true form because it is best viewed right in front of you. If anyone is interested in seeing it in it's true form let me know and I will take some photos of it to post in my scraps.
This one was painted on an old piece of clothing, I think it is a night gown. I have be using decaying things in my art, it's been influenced by one of my favorite artists, Dieter Roth. [link] who was known to work with actual rotting food. I don't have the stomach for that, but I am always looking to reuse old items that I find and give them new life and show rebirth and the eventual death of the work will come too.

I was told one time, that real men don't paint pansies. No really. So what did I do? I painted abstract pansies. But I love nature so I don't know what the hell they meant by "real men don't paint pansies?" Of course since they are pansies I thought it would interesting for the painting to be able to placed in the grass or in a setting that should be used for flowers.

Sometimes I ask myself, "what would Conan do?" He would cut, whoever made fun of his flower art, to pieces. That is too extreme. I guess I should ask myself something else from now on.
